Artist Statement

My work seeks to juxtapose vulnerability and power.  I organize environments and direct models to create an image that is expressive of these qualities. I am inspired by obscure moments of daily life.  These moments fuel the identities of my subject matter.  I thoughtfully use formal elements such as shape, line, color and texture to enhance sentiment.  I also consider the symbolic qualities of props, wardrobe and the gaze of my models. My end goal is to create a dramatic image that engages the viewer emotionally.
